

Estela Heras Lopez (85) took her last tender breath and closed her little eyes on Wednesday, December 28, at 1:14 PM. Estela was born February 22, 1931, in Hialeah, Florida. She lived an extraordinary life of courage, strength, and determination as she battled cancer from the age of 47. Through many years Estela underwent many surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation treatments, while under the supervision of a fantastic medical staff at MD Anderson Research Center. Her strong determination to survive and overcome the deceased was an example of her character and will. Estela was outspoken, strong willed, gentle, tough and courageous; she had to be in order to fight her cancer battle each day. Estela was very strong on family ties and truly did things her way; absolutely no exceptions. During her life she mastered many talents such as sewing, knitting, crocheting, ceramics, cake decorating, gardening, reading and still had energy to raise grandchildren and friends of grandchildren. She was known as everyone's Mama Lopez. Estela made sure her grandchildren were always involved in team sports and was known as the Team Mama. At the tender age of 75 Estela walked her first 5K marathon for cancer survivors and came in First Place in her age group. Estela Lopez is survived by her husband of 66 years, Antonio Lopez, Sr., of El Paso. Daughter Lourdes Grado-Mayo and husband James Mayo, of Coppell, TX,. Grandsons Adam Grado, of Falls Church, VA. Anthony Grado of Dallas, TX., and Adrian Grado of McKinney, TX. Daughter Patricia Montes de Oca and husband Eziquiel Montes de Oca, of Desoto, TX. Granddaughter Jessica Chavez-Bragg, of Richardson, TX., Grandson Fernando Chavez and wife Chelsea Chavez, of Dallas, TX. Son Tony Lopez, Jr. and wife Julie Bueno-Lopez, of Waxahachie, TX., grandsons Tony Lopez III, of Tennessee, Vincent Lopez, and wife Sara Lopez, of Japan and Augustine Lopez, of Waxahachie, TX. Son Jaime Lopez and wife Karen Lopez, of DelTona, Fl. grandchildren Jimmy Lopez of El Paso and Laura Lopez-Hall of Virginia Estela is survived by great grandchildren, Andrew Grado, Jade Alex Aguirre, Jaziel Bragg, Joachim Bragg, Vincent Lopez, Jr., Yasmine Grado, Emily Grado. Estela is survived by one sister Dr. Ivonne Heras-Hobfoll and husband Dr. Stevan Hobfoll, of Chicago, IL, children Dr. Ari Hobfoll and wife Patty Hobfoll, of Denver, CO. Jonathan Hobfoll and wife Dana Hobfoll, of Toronto, Canada and Sheera Hobfoll, of Chicago, IL.. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 5pm to 9pm at Martin Funeral Home Central with a 7:00pm rosary. Mass/Scripture will be held 9:00 am, Friday, January 6, 2017. Procession following to Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Dr. El Paso, Texas. Arrangements under the direction of Funeraria Del Angel Martin Central, El Paso, TX.
