She leaves behind the love of her life, soul mate and best friend of 60 years, Alfonso Velarde and her four loving children Pety, Lizy, Alfonso and Lulu. She was loved tremendously by all her grandchildren, Punkin, Patito, Stephen, Lindsay, Adrian, Danny, Nicky, Tessy and Hayley and great grand children Angelina, Isaiah and Sophia. To them she was a second mother, she dedicated her life to them. She served as rock and anchor to her brother Kilo and sister Tencha whom she also leaves behind.
She was an unbelievably beautiful person, inside and out, until the day of her passing. Undeniably she was the best cook for anyone who was lucky enough to eat her food. She cooked with passion and sabor and we are grateful that she licked the spoon and licked it often.
She radiated so much joy in so many ways, from the pictures strewn throughout her home, revealing the love she had for her family to the flowers she tended to so carefully in her garden for all to enjoy, to the delectable meals she placed in front of us all.
Viejita and Mom,
We love you and thank you so much for the gifts you have given us; the ability to love and live unconditionally, to have patience without resolve, to see the beauty in the simple things and to open our hearts to those who need it the most. We are so grateful to have had you for so long. Go now in peace and let the spirit of our love surround you just as we feel the spirit of your warm love surrounding us.
