

Felix “Chano” Mendoza 80, born September 8, 1929 in El Paso, TX. He passed peacefully on July 18, 2010 surrounded by loved ones. He was formerly married to Bertha Andrade. He is survived by his two children, son Mark Felix Mendoza and daughter Melinda Gandara, Brother Bill Neder and three grandchildren, Ruben, Art and Aja and one Great grandson. He is preceded in death by his mother Maria Bonilla and sisters Consuelo Terrones, Luz Carpio and Refugio Bonilla. He was a graduate of Bowie High School class of '49 and attended specialty courses at UTEP and El Paso Community College. He worked for the City of El Paso as a Deputy County Clerk from 1957 to 1971, and as a Community Service Coordinator for the Department of Human Services. He was an astute collector of fine jazz music, aficionado of jokes, an active member of baseball, softball, and bowling associations. Former member of Jaycees club, Border City Kiwanis Club, promoted Downtown Optimist and Little Boy Blue and Sister Too picnic a yearly function for orphans and underprivileged children. Pallbearers are: Leonard Giron, Pete Carpio, Jesus Terrones, Adolf Alvarez, Jesus Cervantes, Sonny Efurd, Tony Rodriguez, Hector Ruiz Honorary pallbearers: Bert Williams and Johnny Huerta. He was loved by all who knew him. The world will deeply miss his uncanny humor and his devoted kindness, charity and love to all. He believed Heaven is where truth, justice and equality will ring in the hearts and in the minds of all men, from what we have overlooked for so long. He rests now with our Heavenly Father. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Funeraria Del Angel Martin Central 3839 Montana Ave with a 7:00 p.m. rosary. Funeral Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Friday July 23, 2010 with burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
