It is with the heaviest of hearts that the children of Flora M. Nunez (100) announce her passing. April 15, 2021. She was the family matriarch – a very strong, loving person who survived Covid pandemic – just before her 100th birthday. She retired from El Paso Natural Gas Co. after 25 years of service. She always instilled that hard work and honesty were a very important part of life.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Guillermo L. Nunez, daughter Ysidra “Chilly” Hurtado (California), brothers Meme Mata (California), Salvador “Chava” Mata, sister Nati Lopez (El Paso), and parents Bonifacio and Guadalupe Mata.
Survived by sister Minda Mendoza, son-in-law Robert Hurtado (California), daughter Bertha Fuentes (Sam+), sons Agustin “Shorty” Nunez (Liz) (Maryland), Salvador “Pinky” Nunez (Angie) (Arizona), daughter Lupe Nunez Duran (David+) (El Paso). She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren, also several nieces and nephews.

Thursday night, April 29 we will have a Christian celebration of life at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave. Viewing will be from 6-8pm for family and friends. On Friday, April 30, we will celebrate Catholic Mass at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 8011 Williamette at 9am. Committal will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
