George Yturralde passed away peacefully in his sleep, with his family by his side, on Thursday, April 24th, at the age of 89. George was born and raised in El Paso, TX, and was a proud graduate of Jefferson High School, class of 1955. He lettered in basketball, and when people asked if he could dunk the ball, he’d smile and proudly nod his head.
George worked as a salesman of automotive paint and accessories. When he visited various body shops and dealerships around town, you could hear mechanics shout in glee, “¡Ese, George!” He was also the proud owner of a 1957 Chevy. As the years went on, he couldn’t maintain it as he used to, but he still enjoyed it. People would constantly come up and ask if they could buy it, he would always politely decline.
He loved the Dallas Cowboys in good times and not so good times. He enjoyed watching all sports, even wrestling. George was also averse to using phone maps. Even in 2025, he preferred studying physical maps, which he’d spread across the dining room table to find the best routes. George was a natural problem solver and generous to a fault—a genuinely kind man who will truly be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Bernadina Yturralde, his brother Alfonso Yturralde, and his son, Jorge Luis Yturralde. He is survived by the love of his life, Yolanda; his aunt Elvira Arrambide; his siblings, Maria Elena Parga (Frank), Martha Aitkin (Gary+), and Irene Morales (Robert); his children, Bob Yturralde and Virginia Rodriguez; and Monica Amelia Reveles Martinez and Manuel (Manny Martinez) Reveles. His grandchildren include Giannino, Clarisse; Brendon, Rhys, and Sofia. George had many cousins, nieces and nephews who loved him dearly including several god children.
