Hilario “Larry” Hidalgo peacefully walked into the Lord’s arms on Friday, January 1, 2016. He joined parents Bernabe and Maria Hidalgo, brother Miguel and sisters Rosalia Cortez, Cleofas Gamboa and Jessie Daniels. He is survived and celebrated by his wife, Bertha, daughter Corinne, light of his life granddaughter Amelia, sisters Mary Conklin, Arlene York, Tony Dunlap, Connie Woodson and brother Manuel Hidalgo and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Berino, NM, Hilario was a devoted family man and one to never sit still. Larry grew up working on the family ranch in Berino from a very young age before serving in the Army during the Korean conflict. He came back and married Bertha, the love of his life. Hilario went on to work at Meyers and then retire from Phelps Dodge. This is when his true calling came to light – being a proud, loving and never tiring grandfather. Although generally a quiet man, those he was close to will remember the twinkle in his eyes as he delivered his surprising comedic comebacks. There is no doubt he will be watching over this girls from up above. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with vigil at 7:00pm at Martin Funeral Home Central. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 10:00am at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
