Hilda Martinez Valenzuela - 89 - Born November 15, 1932 in Yoquivo, Chihuahua. Mom ascended to heaven on December 29, 2021. She was the 8th child of Francisco and Josefa Martinez - Pancho a miner and Pepa a strong and humble woman. Mom is survived by spouse, Capt. Ernesto Valenzuela, USN-Ret., children Patricia (Ron), Ernesto (Ana Maria), Hilda Jeanette, and Victor Hugo (Amabilia); grandchildren Jason (Melinda), Nicole Maria (RJ), Ana Teresa, Angelica, and Luci; and great-grandson Elliott.
Mom was always ready and available for her family teaching us to pursue the right path in life. A gracious hostess, everyone still remembers Christmas at the Valenzuela’s and Mrs. V’s homemade tamales and menudo. She was a perennial Chinese Checkers and Monopoly champion and inspired her children to be musicians and singers. From the Sierra de Chihuahua growing up in La Casa Grande de Yoquivo and countless stories of climbing cherry trees, Mom traveled the world with Dad - loving and faithful companions who began their journey together January 17, 1954.
Our appreciation and gratitude go out to Rosie and Lupe for the loving care they provided to Mom and Hiliana from Encompass Health. Special thanks also to the compassionate medical staff at UMC-ICU - especially Carlos and Gus.
In lieu of flowers, Mom will appreciate your donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Mom will be missed by many friends and family as she rests peacefully in our Lord's loving arms. Duerma con los angelitos, mami.
