

Jerome A Burr passed away on October 27, 2014 at the age of 78. He was born in Fargo, ND and graduated from St. John’s University, Collegeville, MN in 1959. He taught in Sentinel Butte, ND, from 1962-1963 and left to take a position in civil service. He became director of Religious Education at Ft Bliss in 1967 and was later transferred to Killeen, TX in 1974. He returned to El Paso in 1976, and taught English and Latin at Coronado High School, Henderson Elementary, and El Paso High School, retiring after 20 years of service to the El Paso Public School District. Jerry was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus for 45 years and was active in that organization for 57 years. While in Killeen, TX, Jerry served as Grand Knight of Council 4724. He also acted as secretary for the Lions Club “Lions for Vision” project. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Agnes Burr, his son, Patrick Joseph, and his granddaughter, Bobbie Jo. He is survived by his lovely wife of 50 years, Jane, his daughter, Anna Barbara and granddaughter, Cindy Marie, his sister Margaret Harris, and brothers, David and John Burr. Visitation will be at Martin del Angel Funeral Home at 3839 Montana Ave., Monday, November 3, from 5-9pm with the rosary at 6pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at 9am, Tuesday, November 4, at the Holy Trinity Church, 10000 Pheasant Rd. A Reception at the Knights of Columbus Hall (638) at 1029 Howze St., will follow the mass. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
