Jose Molina never met a stranger—only friends waiting to be made. He was a kind-hearted, extroverted individual who consistently saw the best in others. Helping people came naturally to him, and he was always ready to lend a hand at a moment’s notice.
An accountant by training, Jose immigrated to the United States in search of a better life. His love for numbers and analytical thinking led to the creation of many successful small businesses. He was a resourceful and determined entrepreneur. When one opportunity slowed, he was already planning for the next. Over the years, he worked as a bookkeeper, tax preparer, paletero, translator, and business advisor, always finding ways to support his family and community. For many years, he was a beloved staple at Mesita Elementary, selling paletas daily and bringing joy to students and staff.
Known as "El Calero," he brought humor, intelligence, and wisdom into every conversation. He was a passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Mexico National Futbol Team, always sharing his enthusiasm with those around him. He was an avid reader and well-informed on the news of the day. He loved music and dancing. He also loved onions and liver- a dish that his children did not love.
Above all, Jose was a proud, supportive, and encouraging father to his three children: Jose, Elizabeth, and Christian. They inherited his love for helping others, his curiosity, and his thirst for knowledge. His pride in their accomplishments was boundless. He shared their successes with everyone, from his old neighbors in Colonia Industrial in the city of Chihuahua to his community at the Sun Plaza Apartments in El Paso.
He celebrated Elizabeth's graduation from the University of Texas School of Law with immense joy. He beamed with pride when Christian opened the second location of Smooth Fades Barber Studio, growing his barber shop empire. When Jose earned his master’s degree from UTEP and began pursuing a second, he made sure everyone knew of his son’s dedication and hard work. His love, encouragement, and unwavering support for his children were endless. He also loved his grand puppies.
As he strolled through downtown El Paso, gazing at the Franklin Mountains, he was often reminded of the mountains of his youth in Chihuahua. He greeted everyone he passed, waving at the viejitos on their porches and checking to see if they needed anything.
Jose has now joined his ancestors, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and love. His beloved children survive him, and countless friends and family fondly remember him. He was the son of Lucila L. Molina and Jose Sepulveda Molina.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave, El Paso, Texas 79903, With a Vigil at 7:00 p.m.
His light continues to shine in the lives he touched and in the hearts of those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort, hope, and peace to all who mourn his passing.
