Laura Martinez Gonzalez, age 76, loving mother and devoted grandmother, passed away on February 13, 2022 in El Paso, Texas surrounded by her family. She was born September 30, 1945, in El Paso, the daughter of Francisco Martinez and Maria de Jesus Rangel Martinez. Owner of Martinez Brand Cracklings established in 1967 and graduate of Bowie High School in 1964.
She was a very proud of her sons, loved her grandchildren very much and was very devoted to her little Chihuahua Evita. She looked forward to phone calls from her sons and grandkids, especially when she was able to Facetime with them. She made the best ham and no one was ever able to make it as good as her. Laura was the face of Martinez Brand and always stood out in her fancy, colorful, flowered Mexican blouses. She will be very missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her brothers, Guillermo Calvillo, Juan Martinez, Salvador Martinez, and Enrique Martinez; sisters, Lupe Aguirre and Amparo McCord.
Laura is survived by her brother Francisco Martinez and sister Hortencia Enriquez; children, Edward Mendez (Lisa), David Mendez (Valerie) and Steven Gonzalez (Jaclyn); grandchildren, Mason Edward Mendez, Zoe Katarina Mendez, Lucas Steven Gonzalez and Megan Nicole Gonzalez.
Services include a visitation, Thursday, March 10, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Avenue, El Paso Texas 79903 with recitation of the rosary at 7 pm. Funeral mass service, Friday, March 11 at 9:30 am, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 602 South Oregon St. Burial to follow at Evergreen Alameda Cemetery, 4301 Alameda, El Paso.
