Luis A. Estrada, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran, died on July 11, 2025, after a courageous battle with illness. He was 87 years old.
Born on December 4, 1937, Luis was the son of Pablo and Enriqueta Estrada. He was one of seven siblings and is survived by his sister, Ofelia Terrazas, and brother, Raul Estrada. He was preceded in death by his siblings Pablo Estrada, Francisco Estrada, Enriqueta Rivera, and Gloria Bustamante.
Luis lived a life of service, faith, and unwavering love for his family. He served honorably in the United States Air Force and later dedicated many years to the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier, retiring in 1995. His work ethic, humility, and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
A devout Catholic, Luis’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was a man of quiet strength and deep compassion, always putting others before himself.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Alicia Estrada. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on love and family. Luis was a proud father to his son, Christopher Estrada (wife Cecilia), and daughter, Alyssa Gutierrez (husband Miguel). He was a cherished grandfather to Matthew Estrada, Noah Gutierrez, and Niah Gutierrez. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
Luis will be remembered for his warm heart, steadfast devotion, and deep love for his family. He was also a passionate sports fan who never missed a Dallas Cowboys game and proudly supported UTEP Miner athletics.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Funeraria del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Avenue, El Paso, TX 79903 where the rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will follow on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, located at 3729 Hueco Avenue, El Paso, TX 79903. The mass will be followed by a burial at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the physicians and nurses caring for Luis with compassion and dedication during his illness. A special thank you to Dr. Muneer Assi and nurse Karla Chavez, whose kindness, attentiveness, and gentle spirit brought comfort and peace to Luis and his loved ones during his final days. Your care made a meaningful difference; the family will always be grateful.
