Maggie was born November 11, 1924 in El Paso. She graduated Bowie High in 1942, where she was an active and popular student. She worked for the El Paso Police Department for 28 years, primarily in the Crime Prevention unit until she retired in 1989. She was a proud native El Pasoan who was an active member of Santo Niño de Atocha Church, her senior centers, and the Golden Bears Social Club, a seniors’ alumni group for the Bowie High School she so dearly loved. She was also a faithful Catholic who during the pandemic took to watching Mass and praying the Rosary daily. Maggie was a naturally talented writer who enjoyed composing stories and essays about her experiences. For several years, she also applied that talent in editing “El ChismOSO,” the newsletter for the Golden Bears. She loved going to her favorite restaurant, The Taquito and smiled and sighed every time she heard a swing music tune from her youth, especially Artie Shaw’s “Begin the Beguine.” She also loved her many pets throughout her life that gave her so much joy.
Mom, we will always carry your wisdom, strength, courage, and humor in our hearts.
