It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Maria Luisa Baca, affectionately known as “Wicho.” She passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025, at the age of 91, following a brief illness.
Wicho was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who was always there for us, offering unwavering love, wisdom, and support. She was a kind and generous soul who selflessly put the needs of her family above her own. Her caring nature and strength were felt by all who knew her.
A cherished member of the El Paso community, Wicho leaves behind a legacy of compassion, kindness, and resilience. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Rudy Murillo, and her devoted husband, Raul Baca.
She is survived by her daughters Aida Aguilar, Lupe Jauregui, and son Miguel Jauregui; her sister Velia Murillo; as well as her sisters Bertha Olga Ramos, Isela Murillo, and Carmen Chaparro. Wicho also leaves behind countless grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Eveila Murillo, and son-in-law Alberto Aguilar Jr., nieces, nephews, and friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
Her passing leaves a deep hole in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, but we find comfort in knowing that her spirit will live on through the countless lives she touched.
To commemorate her incredible journey and to celebrate the love she spread, a memorial service will be held in her honor at St. Patrick Cathedral church on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 1:30 pm. We invite all who knew her to join us in remembering a truly remarkable woman.
