Maria Socorro Butler, age 88 of El Paso, TX., was born January 1st, 1937 and passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025. in El Paso, Texas. During her high school years, she played clarinet in the El Paso High School Band. She enjoyed accounting and bookkeeping. As well as Home Economics class.
Maria worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses. During the later years of her life, she was a travel agent and traveled the world with her husband. The Caribbean, Russia, Europe, Central America and went on several cruises. She enjoyed gardening, reading books, making puzzles and doing word search games to keep her mind sharp.
She was preceded by her father Francisco and mother Carmen Perez. In 1964, her Brothers Raul Garcia, a U. S. Navy Corpsman who was tragically killed in a drive by shooting by the Gunning Castel drugstore off Missouri and Wyoming 2 blocks from the house, and Tony Garcia (wife Margie). She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband whom she was a devoted wife to A. J. Butler, and Infant son Johnny Butler, was a twin, who died a few days after birth.
Maria is survived by her sons, Jay Butler (Bertha), Robert Butler, Michael Butler (Claudia); daughter Donna Rodriguez (Ruben) and friend Oscar Ontiveros (and Carlos his son); grandchildren, Christopher Butler, Amanda Lopez, Jonathan Butler, Cindy Butler, Victoria Butler,Robert Butler II, Valerie Butler, Lori Rodriguez and Michelle Rodriguez; great grandchildren, Kyalani Butler, Felix Butler, Matthew Rosal, Molly Butler and Issah Butler, Michael Butler II, Cole Butler, and Evan Butler.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 14, 2025 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave, El Paso, TX 79903. Funeral mass will be Tuesday, April 15th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Patrick Cathedral with interment to follow in Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
