Maria Elena Pantoja Perez

With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Maria Elena Pantoja Perez, who entered into the hands of our Lord Jesus Christ on May 8, 2025, at the age of 90.

Maria Elena, affectionately known as "Nena" by her family and friends, was born on July 1, 1934, and raised in El Paso, Texas. She was the cherished matriarch of a beautiful legacy of her seven children: Eduardo Perez, Irene Rogers (Lee), Gloria Gaytan(† Emilio), Carlos Perez, Rosalia Zubia, Cecilia Espinoza (Paul) and Cristina Perez. Her greatest joy came from her family, including eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sebastian E. Perez (Chevy); her parents, Santiago and Tomasa Pantoja; her siblings, Santiago, Robert and Jesus Pantoja, Agripina Moya, Jesusita Rivera, and Lucy Hernandez.

Maria Elena's life was a reflection of love, faith and resilience. Her warmth and devotion will be remembered always and deeply missed by all who loved and knew her.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a Rosary at 7:00 PM, at Funeraria Del Angel Martin Central, 3839 Montana Ave, El Paso, TX 79903. Funeral Mass will take place Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 8:30 am, at St. Patrick Cathedral, 1118 N Mesa St, El Paso, TX 79902, followed by an interment at 10:30 am, at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906.
