Our beautiful mother, Martina Fabela, was called to our Lord on November 25. She had a long and fulfilling life and had just turned 101years old. She was born in Fabens, Texas to Rosendo and Jesusita Sanchez. Through her long life she faced profound loses of her only son Andres and grandsons, Andy, Jr. and Esteban. Yet she persevered and was a source of inspiration to all. With a limited pension she still managed to help others in need and always gave to anyone who asked. She maintained a fierce sense of humor even in times of sadness that had all sharing in the moment.
She always wanted to feed anyone that came to her house (delicious chiles rellenos, tamales, chile con carne, etc). Even on her last days she was concerned that she could not cook anymore. When all her siblings got together there was always laughter and singing. She carried her music case to every occasion (first it was vinyl records, then cassette, finally CDs).
She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Elvia Rodriguez (Jesus), Irma Fabela, Ramona Acatecatl, Patricia Loy (Ignacio) and brother Manuel Sanchez. Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren: Gabriel, James, David, Clarissa, Andrea, Abel, and Danny. She also had numerous great and great-great grandkids, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Atanacio, great granddaughters Valerie and Crissy and siblings: Guadalupe, Dolores, Amalia, Margarita, Ramona, Victoria, Maria, Rosendo Jr. and Maria Guillen.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 5, 2024 beginning at 9:30 am at Funeraria del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Avenue with Rosary beginning at 10:00 am. Funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 pm at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1050 North Clark Drive. Burial will be held at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 South Zaragoza Road.
Forever in our hearts and memories.
