

Miriam Walker, April 17, 1930 – January 29, 2014. She was born in De Kalb, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Colonel William O. Walker. She graduated from Mississippi State College for Women with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She loved education and continued to take college courses to improve herself over the course of her life. She later earned a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading from Mississippi State University. She was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star and a life member of Rosetta Temple No. 61., Daughters of the Nile.
She is survived by a son William O. Walker, Jr., M.D., his wife, Patsy Walker of University Place, Washington, a daughter, Carol W. Turner of Las Cruces, New Mexico, one grandson, William Lathrop Walker, five granddaughters, Kathryn Ryan Walker, Natalie Noel Clayshulte, Tiffany Colleen Ramirez, Holly Joy Wilber, and Ivy Hope Amini, and three great grandchildren, Aaron Paul Ramirez, Eli Patrick Wilber, and Madeline Ivy Wilber.
Mrs. Walker will lie in state Monday, February 3, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home Central on 3839 Montana. Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Martin Chapel. Burial will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
