He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose de la Luz Guillen (Papa Luz) and Maria del Refugio Contreras Guillen (Mama Cuca), his children Yolanda Guillen Cardenas, Raul Guillen, Jr, and Patricia Guillen-Dill, and granddaughter Melissa V. Diaz.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years Lydia, his brother Alonso, his children Ruben, Martha, and David, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Raul was born in El Paso TX on November 6, 1928, and remained a lifelong resident. As a young man, he worked downtown to help support his family. It was at this time, while working at the Texas Store, that he met the love of his life and wife of 74 years, Lydia. As he and Lydia started a family, he went to work in the machine shop at Farah Manufacturing Company (located in that vast area now occupied by the Fountains at Farah), where he remained for 37 years.
After he retired, he enjoyed working on projects at home, visiting with family and friends, and traveling abroad.

Visitation for Mr. Raul Guillen will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 6:00pm-8:00pm; Rosary will be held at 7:00pm at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Avenue, 79903.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 9:30 AM at St. Anthony Seminary, 4601 Hastings Drive, 79903.
