Rebeca G. Hinojos

Rebeca Hinojos Guerrero nació el 20 de julio de 1937 en Uruapan, Michoacán. Fue una de once hermanos, hija de Francisco Guerrero y Sabina Zavala. Falleció a los 88 años por causas naturales el viernes 19 de diciembre de 2025.

Fue precedida en la muerte por sus padres y por tres de sus hermanos: Víctor, Francisco y Arturo Guerrero. Le sobreviven sus hermanos Virginia, Cruz, Gloria, Esperanza, Marta, Manuel y Alfredo. Asimismo, le sobreviven su esposo Camilo Hinojos, sus hijos MaDolores, José, Rebeca, Camilo, Martha y Mónica, así como sus nietos y bisnietos.

Rebeca trabajó intensamente en la costura en una fábrica. A pesar del cansancio, siempre puso a su hogar y a su familia por encima de todo. Nunca se quejó ni se le escuchó decir que estaba cansada o de mal humor. Mantuvo siempre un hogar limpio y acogedor. Sus hijos y familiares tuvieron el privilegio de vestir sus costuras, desde una simple bastilla hasta vestidos de novia y de quinceañera.

Rebeca fue una gran influencia en toda su familia y fue como una segunda madre para sus hermanos, papel que continuó hasta sus últimos días. Fue reflejo de los valores que enseñó y que formaron la personalidad de cada uno de sus hijos y nietos. Era una mujer callada pero alegre; se cubría la boca al reír. No decía malas palabras y no juzgaba a los demás. Le encantaba vestirse con joyería, combinar su ropa y estar siempre perfumada.

Rebeca vivió muchos altos y bajos en su vida. Luchó intensamente junto a su hija mayor, MaDolores, durante su enfermedad. A los 50 años enfrentó el cáncer y lo venció. También navegó diversas situaciones personales con su pareja y con cada uno de sus hijos, ayudándolos siempre a salir adelante.

Como en todo matrimonio, su vida estuvo llena de retos y logros. Aun así, Rebeca fue una mujer paciente, tolerante y comprensiva. Fue una madre que nunca juzgó y que siempre dio más de lo que recibió.

Como abuela y bisabuela, el rostro de Rebeca se transformó. Amó con gran dulzura a cada uno de sus nietos y nietas. Era juguetona y bromista con ellos, y esas experiencias y recuerdos los llevarán en su corazón para siempre.

De joven le gustaba jugar básquetbol; su materia favorita era geografía y estudió corte y confección. Su pasatiempo preferido era ir al campo y viajar con sus hijos y su familia. Su color favorito era el lila y su canción preferida, “Como una Marioneta”. Le encantaba comer verduras, aunque de vez en cuando se daba el gusto con Chicos Tacos y chili dogs, sin olvidar el pan con café. Disfrutaba cocinar para todos; nunca faltaron los frijolitos y las tortillas de harina. En casa, uno de sus mayores placeres era cuidar sus plantas y rosales.

Esperamos que Rebeca haya iluminado la vida de quienes la conocieron y que hayan recibido sus bendiciones al salir de su hogar. Siempre despedía a los suyos extendiendo su bendición desde la puerta, y así será recordada para siempre.

El velatorio se realizará martes 30 de diciembre de 2025 de 4:00 p.m. a 8:30 p.m., con el rosario a las 5:00 p.m. en la Funeraria Del Ángel Central, 3839 Montana Ave. El Paso, Texas 79903. La misa fúnebre será miércoles 31 de diciembre de 2025 a las 9:00 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, 2709 Alabama St. El Paso, Texas 79930.

Today we celebrate the life of Rebeca Hinojos Guerrero, an extraordinary woman whose love, strength, and devotion deeply touched all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was born on July 20, 1937, in Uruapan, Michoacán, the daughter of Francisco Guerrero and Sabina Zavala, and one of eleven siblings. She passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving behind an enduring legacy of love and values.

Rebeca was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Víctor, Francisco, and Arturo Guerrero. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Camilo Hinojos; her children, MaDolores, José, Rebeca, Camilo, Martha, and Mónica; her siblings Virginia, MaCruz, Gloria, Esperanza, Marta, Manuel, and Alfredo; as well as her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were among her greatest joys.

A tireless worker, Rebeca dedicated many years to sewing in a factory. Even so, she never allowed fatigue to overshadow her greatest calling: her family. Her home was always clean, warm, and filled with love. With her hands, she created more than clothing—she created memories. From a simple hem to wedding and quinceañera dresses, her sewing wrapped her family in care and dedication.

Rebeca was a constant guide and a second mother to many, especially her siblings, a role she fulfilled with love until her final days. Through her quiet example, she shaped the character of her children and grandchildren. She was a gentle, joyful, and elegant woman; she laughed while covering her mouth, spoke with kindness, never judged others, and radiated goodness. She loved dressing beautifully, wearing jewelry, coordinating her outfits, and always carrying a soft, distinctive fragrance.

Her life was filled with challenges, each of which she faced with courage. She fought alongside her eldest daughter, MaDolores, through illness, endured difficult moments in her marriage and in the lives of her children, and at the age of 50, bravely faced and overcame cancer. Through it all, she remained patient, tolerant, and understanding—a generous mother who gave without expecting anything in return.

As a grandmother and great-grandmother, her love became even more tender and playful. She delighted in joking, laughing, and creating unforgettable memories with her grandchildren, who will carry her affection in their hearts forever.

In her youth, she enjoyed playing basketball and loved geography. She studied dressmaking and tailoring, a talent that marked her life. She loved spending time in the countryside, traveling with her children and family, and caring for her plants and rose bushes. Her favorite color was lilac, and her favorite song was “Como una Marioneta.” She preferred vegetables, though she occasionally treated herself to small tacos, chili dogs, and, of course, bread with coffee. In her kitchen, there were always beans and flour tortillas, lovingly shared. At home, one of her greatest pleasures was tending to her plants and roses.

Rebeca brightened the lives of all who crossed her path. Many remember how she would stand at her doorway, sending loved ones off with her blessing. This is how she will always be remembered: with a serene smile, hands full of love, and a generous heart.
