Dickie joined the United States Air Force at the age of 16 and after his term of service, he returned to El Paso where he married Rachel A. Stearns and later on had their three children.
Working as an automotive mechanic he opened his own business in 1971 known as Dickie's Racing Components which quickly became his second home.
Dickie also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and most importantly spending time with his family, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel A. Stearns; son, Richard A. Stearns Jr.; daughter, Margaret Bradham; son-in-law, Rusty Bradham; daughter, Sandy Kessler and his grandchildren.
He will be remembered for always being there for his family, nothing was impossible with him by our side, for his complete selflessness in helping a stranger, his unforgettable humor, his ability to turn a bad situation into something positive, for always remembering Valentine's Day, his life-long friendships (shop regulars, you know who you are), famous for saying "It's not what you want, it's what you get."
He will forever be in our hearts and remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
