A kind and dedicated family man, Rodolfo was born in El Paso, TX, where he lived most of his life. He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodolfo Sr. and Eugenia A. Piñon, his brother Ruben Piñon, his sister and brother-in-law Celia P. and Frank Guzman, and his beloved granddaughter, Jessica P. Avalos.
Rodolfo is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Estela C. Piñon, his children Rudy Piñon (Mary), Rick Piñon (Virginia), Margie P. Yrrobali (Nicho) and Annie P. Henckel (Troy).
He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Rigo (Shauna), Alex, Ricky, Michelle (Freddy), Mark (Jennifer), Monica (Rob), Michael, Melissa, Troy and Aaron, 21 great grandchildren: Erica, Sophia, Camille, Isabella, Amelia, Lizette, Esmeralda, Ariana, Jessie, Amanda, Carlye, Freddy, Chloe, Theo, Dominic, Josh, Cisco, Alexis, Tony, Lluvia, and Angel and 2 great great grandchildren: Caleb and Nicole, who all adored him.
Rodolfo was a proud graduate of Cathedral High School. He also attended El Paso Technical Institute, where he received his professional certification as a draftsman; as well as Texas Western College (UTEP) and New Mexico State University.
He was a US Army veteran who proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict.
He worked as an engineering draftsman with both the Army and then the Navy (NOMTF) at White Sands Missile Range, NM, for 32 years. His perfectionist attitude and attention to detail made him an exceptional draftsman. After retiring, he volunteered at the El Paso Public Library.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, dancing, and playing cards at family get togethers. He was also an avid history buff. He enjoyed the simple life.
The family wishes to thank Carolina Reyes and Isela De Lara and the staff at Care Quality of El Paso for their kindness, compassion and dedication during their home health care visits.
We, as a family, feel extremely blessed to have had such a kindhearted, gentle, humble and loving man in our lives. Thank you Lord.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 25, from 5:00-7:00pm, at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Avenue, with the Rosary at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, May 26, at 9:00am at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1050 N. Clark Dr. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Avenue at 10:30 am.
