Ruben Licon Hernandez, 94, was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished great-grandfather. His warmth, strength and deep love for his family were the heart of everything he did.
Ruben was preceded in death by his beloved wife Frances Maynard Hernandez, his best friend of 75 years and loving wife of 70 years; his beloved father Ruben C. Hernandez and mother Ana L. Hernandez, sister Lydia Sanchez, and Brothers Wilfredo, Arturo, Roberto and Daniel Hernandez.
He leaves behind a beautiful legacy through his children : Wilfred (Grace), Martha Buchberg (Raymond), Richard (Ceci), Gilbert (Ana) and Raul (Cathy) Hernandez. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Henry Maynard Jr., 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren who lovingly called him Grandpa will and always carry his spirit with them.
Ruben was an Airman first class veteran of the United States Air Force Armed Forces with an honorable discharge. After his service he worked for the US Army Air Defence Center at Ft. Bliss as an Electronic Component System Mechanic repairing military missiles.
He was a proud veteran who loved the Dallas Cowboys, working in his basement workshop and making others laugh with his jokes. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all those he touched with his generosity and unwavering love. His legacy lives on in every shared memory, and family gatherings.
