Russell “Rusty” Vernon Brown, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went to be with the Lord on February 3rd, 2022 at the age of 90. He passed away at home surrounded by his family.
Rusty was born in El Paso, TX on November 19th, 1931 to Russell M. and Jonnie Brown. He lead a wonderful and interesting life, both abroad and in the states. His family moved to Bahrain when he was four, where Rusty went to school until the 8th grade. He then transferred to Kodiakanal School in India. For his Senior year of high school he attended Allen Military Academy in Bryan, Texas, then earned his Electrical Engineering degree from Michigan State University. After college he spent two years in the US Army, eight years in the Army Reserve, and 40+ years in the grocery business. Rusty married his beautiful wife Dorris Jane Hurt on November 23rd, 1954, and they were married for 67 wonderful years. They had two children together. He is survived by his wife, Dorris Hurt Brown, daughter Jayme Lynn Brown Northrop (Paul), son David Russell Brown (Verena), four grandchildren (John Northrop, Paula Northrop Holliday, Nathan Brown, Philip Brown) and one great grandchild (Makaila Holliday). He was a long-time member of the El Paso Lower Valley Rotary Club, and visited many Rotary clubs across the country. He and his wife were also long-time members of the El Paso Horseless Carriage Club, where he served as President on several occasions.
Visitation will be held from 12-1pm Thursday, February 10th, at Restlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 4848 Alps Drive, with a funeral service to follow at 1pm. Committal service will be held at Restlawn Memorial Park.
