Sara Baray Reyes our beloved mother and grandmother 103, died peacefully on July 7,2025 in Los Angeles, California. She was born to Angela Ortiz and Jose Baray on May 8,1922 in El Paso, Texas. Sara was married to Pascual Reyes.
She had six children, Julián Reyes(d.2000), Eva Reyes(d.2023), Lucila Lopez (Antonio d.1999), Catalina Reyes, twins Delia Garcia(d.2020) (Carlos) and Velia Bernal (Gerry d.2023). She had 5 grandchildren, Patricia de la Cruz (Jaime), Robert Lopez (Vero), Veronica Garcia, Erik Bernal, Mark Reyes (Elizabeth). She had three great grandchildren, Jasmin, Jack and Aaron.
Sara was a devout Catholic and a parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Although she had a limited education, she always instilled in her children the importance of an education. She loved to read the newspaper from one end to another, watch the daily news and do word searches. She loved her family, food, sweets and playing loteria with family and friends. She loved to sew, especially aprons for friends and family. She loved baking and cooking for her family and friends. She especially took pride in her yard taking care of her plants and trees. She loved walking in the neighborhood as well as the Bassett Center.
She dedicated her life to helping people. She volunteered her time reading to people at The Lighthouse for the Blind for 25 years.
She will be greatly missed by many who loved her.
