Socorro Mama Coco B. Cardenas

Socorro Cardenas, “Mama Coco”, born on May 13, 1935, was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 9, 2017. ‘Mama Coco’ was a home maker and was happiest when surrounded by all her loving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Besides raising her 11 children, she cared for countless others as she considered all of God’s innocents as her own. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mama Coco is survived by her husband of 63 years, Manuel Sr. and her 11 children; Manny Jr. (Patti), Imelda Pracht (Rick), Martin Sr. (Letty), Marta Wrobleski (the late Dr. Carl), Jose Daniel (Belinda), Isabel Rayas (Gilbert), Irma Acosta (Jose Luis), Magdalena Sandoval (Javier), David Sr. (Myra), Ruben (Cynthia), and Eduardo (Kim). She was adored by her 32 grand-children, and 8 great-grand children ranging in ages from 36 years old to 2 months old. She is also survived by her loving siblings; three brothers (Antonio, Victor, and Arturo) and four sisters (Rosa, Magdalena, Refugio, and Teresa). Her love and joy was her family, crafts, music, dancing, gardening, cooking, shopping, family gatherings and holidays. Mama Coco was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Antonio and Maria Barcenas, two brothers, Luis and Jose Barcenas, and one great-grand-daughter, Faith Elizabeth Cardenas. We will dearly miss our Mama Coco’s lively spirit, smile, love, kindness, compassion, and joyful singing and dancing. She will be remembered for her kind soul, her love of life, and her dedication to her home and her family. She leaves behind a legacy and set an example of how one commits themselves to those they love. Mama Coco will be terribly missed by all. She shall forever live in our hearts and our thoughts.

Visitation will be Monday, April 17, 2017 from 5:00 to 9:00pm with a rosary at 7:00pm at Martin Funeral Home Central. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
