1 décembre 19795 septembre 2020

December 1st 1979-September 5th 2020 Monica Heersink, loving daughter and sister passed away at 40 years of age after battling ALS. She was a huge fan of the Colorado Rockies, Denver Nuggets and the Denver Broncos, and loved attending home games with her family and friends. She loved children and spent many years as a nanny and working within the Loveland School district. Monica had a great passion for the outdoors; she enjoyed hiking, backpacking, and taking pictures of wildflowers. She was an excellent baker and cook; she loved experimenting in the kitchen and concocting new cakes for friends and family. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially holidays when everyone would gather together for good food and good company. Monica was preceded in death by her mother Caryl Heersink. She is survived by her father Rick, brother Derek and sister-in-law Valerie Moorman. Her service will be held on Monday, September 14th at 2pm at Allnutt Funeral Home 2100 N Lincoln Avenue, Loveland, Colorado 80538. In lieu of flowers, Monica’s wish was for donations to be made to the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the ALS Association. The Rocky Mountain Chapter of the ALS Association greatly supported the Heersink family during both Monica’s and Caryl’s fight with ALS.

I met Monica when she was teaching water class at Chilson. She did such a great job and became friends with everybody. So sad to hear that she got this horrible disease. And that she has passed already. I did get to see her when she was in doing some testing to get her diagnosis and we had such a nice visit. Thoughts and prayers to the family. Sharon Nesland

Monica had such a BIG Heart! I met her at Chilson Recreation Center where we both taught Aqua Classes. She was always Happy and Easy Going! I will remember her wonderful smile and big heart.

Monica was a beloved member of our Mary Blair team!
She cared for and looked after each of our students, she got to know them and really paid attention to their needs.
Miss Monica will always hold a special place in the hearts of our MBES kids and staff.
We are fortunate to have been able to share such precious time with her!

I met Monica Heersink 4 years ago at Mary Blair Elementary and I was curious about her last name. She confirmed that she had family in the hometown where I grew up. One of her relatives was my eye doctor at a very young age. What a small word! Monica's heart for kids was apparent from the start. Almost every day she would discuss with me about her concerns or even a funny story about one of our students. She worked so hard at her job and went above and beyond to love our Mary Blair family (staff included). She was a beautiful person and will be missed by all.

I worked with Monica in the schools. She always had a smile even when she was struggling. She was always willing to talk and had a way of making people feel safe. She knew every kid by name and always had a smile for each one. She will be dearly missed!

Monica was my water aerobics instructor for a few years. I have missed her beautiful smile and the way her eyes sparkled when she was amused or teasing. I watched her go through her mother's struggle with this disease.

She was a very beautiful soul and will be missed by all who knew her. My condolences to her remaining family. I cannot even begin to imagine how hard it was to watch this happen to both of them. You are in my prayers.

The only good thing about this is that we all know that Caryl and Monica are together again. Rest in peace dear Monica!

I wish I could attend her memorial as I did Caryl's but I will be unable to get the time off work.

I only knew Monica for a few shorts months, as I was reassigned last year as the new art teacher at the school where she worked. My classroom was off the gym, across from her cafeteria, where she worked nourishing our kids each day. She was always kind and smiling. She will be missed with fondness by her coworkers at Mary Blair. Much love to her surviving family.
