Evansville, Ind.
On August 4, 2012, the Lord called home one of his beautiful angels. Brooke Lee Turpen, 9, left us peacefully in her sleep. Although her death was sudden and a shock to her loved ones; she made a huge impact on so many people throughout her life.
"Brookie" was a student at Caze Elementary school and was no ordinary girl to those who knew her. She helped anyone who asked and loved animals, preferably cats. Brookie always made a friend wherever she happened to be. She also liked little things like chapstick, ice cream and clothes that weren't too "fitty." She referred to herself as "Brookie Brookie Turpen," her big sisters referred to her as their "Little Red Headed Midget," and she was her parents' blue-eyed, red-haired angel. Now she is an angel in every sense.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Jim Kellems; and uncle, Robert Stark.
Brookie is survived by her parents, Carrie and Scotty Turpen; sisters, Brittney Winternheimer-Brown, Brandy Stark and Briana Turpen; brother, Shane Fuquay; maternal grandparents, Margie and James Stark; fraternal grandparents, Dianna Kellems and Michael L. Turpen; many aunts, uncles, cousins; and two nephews.
Friends may visit Thursday, August 9, 2012, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at Alexander East Chapel. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Alexander East Chapel, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions in Brookie's name may be made to the Vanderburgh Humane Society. Condolences may be made online at www.AlexanderEastChapel.com.
