He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army.
Charles is survived by his son, Earl Christian; grandchild and caretaker, Vickie Groves; caretaker, Terry Smith; grandchildren, Erica Armstead, and Jesse, Jr., Terry, Stacy and Latonia Merriweather; 30 great-grandchildren; four great, great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews in Florida.
Services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Alexander East Chapel, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Tuesday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
