

Conley Louis Sikes, Sr., 74, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at Deaconess Hospital. He was born July 6, 1940, in Paducah, KY, to the late James Arthur and Georgetta (Pickett) Sikes.
He was a 26 year veteran of the US Army and Marine Corps, retiring as a SFC and a US Army Reserve Instructor. He was a painter for Union Local 156. He was also a former Standard Oil Service Station owner and mechanic, where he also had a U-Haul dealership. He was a 40 plus year member of the New Bethel Baptist Church and a member of Wabash VFW Post 1114 and American Legion Eugene Post #265. He was a mentor for many children. He was a leader in his church youth group, took in neighbor children as his own and was a 4H Horse and Pony leader. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, camping, retirement, taking care of his grandchildren, and being a grandpa.
Conley is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judith Ann (Brown) Sikes; sons, Conley L. (Manon) Sikes, Jr. and Mark W. (Jan) Sikes; grandsons, Josh Sikes, Steven (Alicia) Sikes-Lupfer, and Dylan J. Sikes; granddaughters, Jessi and Bianca Sikes; great-granddaughters, Summer, Makayla, Elaina, and Paisley; sister, Patsy (Neil) Davis; and several loved nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 18, 2014, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Mark Lowe, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alexander West Chapel to assist the family with funeral expenses.
