

John Roger Snyder, Jr., 77, of Evansville, went to heaven to rejoice with his Heavenly Father and family members that were there waiting for him on Saturday, September 10, 2016. He was born July 26, 1939, in Evansville, IN to the late John Roger, Sr. and Selma L. (Roser) Snyder.
He graduated from FJ Reitz High School then enlisted in the Marine Corp. John was a mortarman with the 2nd Battalion 5th Marines stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. In the late 1970's, he served in the Army Reserves as an equipment operator. After discharge, he returned to Evansville and worked at Whirlpool Corporation for 42 years before retiring. He loved driving a bus for the EVSC for nearly 30 years. John was a member of Landmark Baptist Church. He loves spending time with his family, traveling, and his dog, Sheba.
John was preceded in death by his father, John; mother, Selma; brother, Carl Snyder; and sisters, Betty Sue Jewel and Jo Ann Bryant.
He is survived by his daughter Tammy (Steve) Snyder Nolan of La Vergne, TN; son, John R. (Melissa) Snyder III of Evansville, IN; sister, MaryLou Wornica of Tacoma, WA; grandchildren, Eric Stroup, Samantha, John IV, Nathan and Abigayle Snyder; and great-grandson, Haven Stroup.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at Alexander Memorial Park Heritage Chapel, officiated by Pastor Barry Kirves. Friends may visit from 9:00 AM until service time at the chapel.
