Mary L. Tenbarge Schaad

Mary Linda Schaad, 85, of Evansville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Evansville Protestant Home. She was born September 2, 1929, in Evansville, to the late William and Cecilia (Miller) Tenbarge.

Mary ran an in-home daycare that took care of children of teachers from St. Benedict's School for 25 years and worked as a nurse's aide for Evansville Protestant Home for 20 years. Mary was a long-time member of Cross Pointe Trinity Church.

Mary loved to witness and share her faith with everyone. She was a very caring and generous person. The most important things in her life were her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her faith in God.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Conrad "Bud" Schaad; sisters, Eugenia Schmitt and Bertha Bush; and her parents.

She is survived by her sons, Mike (Louise) Schaad of Owensboro, KY, Keith (Susan) Schaad of Corralitos, CA, John (Kelli) Powell and Tom Powell; daughter, Jane (Schaad) Laib; grandchildren, Nicki Mier, Jennifer, Brian, Heather and Josh Schaad, Mallorie and Jenna Laib, Derrick Powell, Amanda Wojkovich, Kyle and Mitchell Powell; six great-grandchildren; and brothers, Syl Tenbarge of NC and Ed Tenbarge of AL.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, January 12, 2015, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Duane Allison, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cross Pointe Trinity Church building fund.
