Veda V Kost

Veda V. (Yeast) Kost, age 92, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Monday, April 01, 2013 at her home. Veda was born March 30, 1921 in Hammond, IL to the late Raymond and Effie Yeast. She had worked for Mead Johnson Company and also Color Craft before retiring in 1988 and attended Immanuel United Church of Christ on Ford Road. After retiring, Veda enjoyed traveling the world and volunteering at several local food pantries. Surviving are two daughters, Jane Ann Kost of Evansville and Christine Milton of Newburgh and two sons, Phillip (Patricia) Kost of Mt. Vernon and Alvin Kost of Evansville. Veda was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Kost in March of 1987; sisters, Mary Carrico, Joyce Yeast, Gwen Yeast and Joann Coers and a brother, Randall Yeast. Funeral services for Veda will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Paul Seburg officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Friday and from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel United Church of Christ, 5812 N. Ford Road, Mt. Vernon, IN 47620 or to the Simpson United Methodist Church Food Bank, 2201 W. Illinois Street, Evansville, IN 47712. The family would like to thank the nurses and aides with Vista Care Hospice and the caregivers from Home Instead for the compassionate care of Veda.
