

She loved people and to "kid around". Taking trips was one of her favorite things along with church activities and being able to witness to people. When she met you, she never failed to let you know she loved Jesus and He loved you too. Velma's spirit will live on thru her daughter and family who surrounded her at her passing. Velma retired from National Can in 1991. Over the years she had attended Alvord General Baptist, Fairlawn General Baptist, Boeke Road General Baptist Church, and Garvinwood Baptist Church until she was no longer able to travel.
Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Warren P. "Rody" Rodenberg; parents, Charles and Ellen Mae (Russell) Duvall; sisters, Clarie Duvall, Ruth Phillips of Enfield, IL, and Zellie Whoberry of Carmi, IL; and brothers, Carlton and Calvin Duvall.
Surviving is daughter, Paula R. Duncan; granddaughter, Kristina (Scott) Kurtz; grandson, James Paul (Bobbie) Duncan; great-grandchildren, Emily Nienaber, Dalton Nienaber, Jesse Kemper, Micah Kemper, Dakota Barnes and great-great grandson, Jordan Tyler Kemper and buddy "Jimbo" Duncan all from the Evansville area; also brothers; Bro. Clarence Duvall of Lebanon Jct., KY and David (Sandy) Duvall from Cynthiana, IN plus
several extended family members to include in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the staff of Woodbridge-Evansville for their love and care for Velma during the time she was there.
Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Bro. Clarence Duvall, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
