

Ana Magpayo de Leon passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning on July 15, 2025, in Everett, Washington after 3 years of suffering from a relapsed bladder cancer. The family was able to see her for the last two days prior to her passing. She was born on July 26, 1932, in Candaba, Pampanga, Philippines. She was survived by; 7 children (Jose, Jerry, Diosdado, Enrique, Ferdinand, Felix, and Michelle), 17 grandchildren (Jacqueline, Jeffrey, John, Jade, Gerard, Stephanie, Alyssa, Catherine, Carmie, Christine, Keith, Carlo, Anjelica, Shaynah, Christian, Angelina, Adrian), a sister (Nitang Gamboa), brother (Ponching Magpayo) and many beloved nieces and nephews. Many are living in America.
Nanay was preceded in death by her husband Agustin de Leon, her sister Dolores Mendoza, her brothers Emilio and Tinong Magpayo.
Nanay (Ana Magpayo de Leon) was a devoted Catholic and a member of St Mary Magdalen Parish church in Everett. Her legacy lives on in every child she raised, in every grandchild who carries her name in their hearts, and in the way we choose to love each other moving forward.
Nanay was nineteen when she met and fell in love with Tatay (Agustin de Leon). They decided to elope with just 25 pesos in his pocket and Nanay had 500 pesos. As soon as they arrived in Tondo, Manila where it all began, they got married the following day in Santo Nino Church in Tondo on Jun 25, 1953. Nanay’s wedding dress and Tatay’s suit were borrowed. They stayed with Tatay’s family for a short time until they found a place to stay.
Nanay had seven children, six boys and one girl. She was 20 years old when her first child Joey was born. They kept on trying until at the age of 43 years old she had her last and first baby girl, Michelle. Nanay was a devoted wife and true-life partner. Soon they were able to own and manage a successful rice and grocery store selling rice and later able to buy their first house.
Nanay together with Tatay migrated to the USA in 1986 living in Everett. Within weeks after arriving, both were able to find a job. Living in an apartment for a while until they were able to save money to buy a multiplex home in Lombard, Everett WA. They lived in the main house and rented out both the upstairs area and a separate house. After several years, they decided to sell this house to buy a new single-family home in Everett where they owned it until now. At this house, many family gatherings took place during birthdays, Thanksgivings, Christmas and New Years.
A viewing is scheduled for Sunday at 1:00 – 5:00 pm on July 20, 2025, at Evergreen Funeral Home (4504 Broadway, Everett, WA 98203). Memorial mass is scheduled to be held Tuesday at 11:00 am on July 22, 2025, at St Mary Magdalen Church, 8517 7th Ave SE, Everett, WA 98208. Cremation to follow at Seattle Service Group in Lake Forest Park. Burial is scheduled for Thursday 10:30 am on July 24, 2025, at the Holyrood Catholic Cemetery in 205 NE 205th Street, Shoreline, WA 98155.
