Astrid was born at sunrise on July 1, 1925 in Petersburg, Alaska to Andreas and Ingrid Ask. She passed away at sunrise on February 10, 2021 at the age of 95.
Astrid grew up in Southeast Alaska. At age 20 she moved south with her husband, Dan Moen who preceded her in death. They lived in Medford, Oregon and Seattle, Washington before settling in Edmonds in 1957. Together they raised 5 children.
Astrid was a bookkeeper for the same dentist in Edmonds for over 30 years. She was a member of the Sons of Norway, both the Edmonds Lodge and Normanna Lodge, as well as the Daughters of Norway Thelma Lodge.
In 1997 she began a happy final chapter in her life, marrying Jerry Thompson of Everett, WA. Together they enjoyed traveling and meeting new people. They wintered in Arizona with many wonderful friends but summered around home to be close to their families.
Astrid was a strong, beautiful lady inside and out. Always ready with a smile and a hug, she showed love for family and friends openly. We will greatly miss her but know she lives on within our hearts and our memories.
Astrid is survived by her husband, Jerry; son Darryl (Lyla) Moen, daughters Carol (Hugh) Cronin, Lois Hull and Bev Moen; many dearly loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and a large extended family. Son, Robert (Bob) Moen, and daughter, Evelyn Carter, preceded her in death.
A private service will be held at a future date.
