Barbara Selensky (Kline) was born in North Dakota on June 18, 1925. She grew up on a farm outside the small town of Selz and attended school there. Barbara had 11 brothers and sisters and they all lived in a modest home. The whole family worked hard on the farm to provide the basic necessities for everyone and to support the children going to school. As a young lady Barbara moved to Devils Lake, North Dakota, a town about an hour away from the farm, where she first worked as a waitress at the Colonial Cafe. She roomed with her sister, Marie, and made friends with her Colonial co-workers. Eventually she met and married Ernie Kline in the Catholic Church at Devils Lake on April 7, 1947. Their sons, born in North Dakota, are Duane and Dwight, both dearly loved, good husbands and fathers and had much success in life. She also dearly loved her four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Barbara and Ernie moved to Everett, WA when the kids were small. They worked hard to provide a good life for their boys and were very of supportive of their endeavors. Barb eventually worked for the Bon Marche department store which she loved and was proud of her accomplishments there. It was a perfect fit because it inspired her great sense of style. She said about herself that she learned by hard work and experience. She was a good mother and a good wife. Barb and Ernie both loved their social life, members of the Elks, Eagles and Normana, where they danced regularly, played cards and made many good friends. She was a skilled entertainer and loved to host visitors at her home. She was a wonderful gardener who devoted many hours in her large back yard to fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
