Eugene James Dobson, a beloved educator, devoted family man, and cherished community member, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2024, at the age of 95.
Born on August 5, 1928, Eugene lived a life rich in service, passion, and dedication. For 70 years, he was a guiding light in the Sunday school program at First Baptist Church in Everett, where his unwavering commitment left an indelible mark on all who met him. His love for teaching extended beyond the church as he also taught middle school social studies and outdoor education, inspiring countless students with his enthusiasm and dedication.
Eugene’s passion for the outdoors was matched only by his devotion to his community. He served as a Boy Scout Master, imparting invaluable life skills and a deep appreciation for nature to the young scouts he mentored. His own adventures took him to some of his favorite spots, including Mad Lake and Mt. Pilchuck, where he found joy in hiking, backpacking, and photographing the natural world. He was also known for capturing the beauty of church events and plants through his lens, sharing his love of nature with those around him.
A lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Eugene’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. His service extended to three years with the Army Air Corps, reflecting his commitment to duty and service.
Eugene was the only child of James and Pearl (Duncan) Dobson. He was married to his beloved wife, Beverly, for 57 years, a partnership characterized by love and mutual respect. Together, they raised their only child, Andrea, who carries forward his legacy of kindness and dedication.
Eugene’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him. His family and friends will gather for a memorial service at First Baptist Church to celebrate his remarkable life and contributions. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the church’s educational and scouting programs in his honor.
Eugene’s legacy of love, service, and passion for learning will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. Your spirit and dedication will forever be remembered and cherished.
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God."
