Geraldine Anne Jones passed away on November 14, 2018 at the age of 92. Devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, mother-in-law, friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep after complications from a fall. Geri is preceded in death by her husband Raymond Frederick Jones and son David Raymond Jones
Geraldine was one of four daughters of Ephrim and Mary Bates. Her maternal lineage has been clearly documented and shows a family history of immigration to America from England. Her ancestral family was one of the first to settle in the Colony of Rhode Island long before the American revolution. A line of ancestry definitively links the family tree to Joseph Jencks, a member of British nobility, who became 19th Governor of the Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. The colony of Rhode Island eventually became a state.
Career woman and devoted mother and wife, Geraldine was always quick with a friendly smile, a pleasant conversation and an ability to always see the positive side of things. She had an innate ability to make everyone in her presence feel comfortable and unselfishly put the needs of others before her own. Never one to sit still, she liked to stay busy, and was active in employment, her church and social clubs. Geraldine raised her family in LaMirada, California, retired to Sun City, California, and upon Raymond’s death relocated to Redmond, Washington to be near family.
The last of the Bates girls to pass, Geraldine leaves behind three children, Susan, Stephen & Richard, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great grand children as well numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
