I have so many memories of my Auntie. Our families spent so much time together that sometimes it felt like my cousins were more like siblings. Auntie Gloria played the trumpet and she inspired me to play the trumpet as well. I loved listening to her play in many of her church programs.  

 When my parents moved to North Carolina, Auntie Gloria would always invite me over for family get-togethers. Later when I was married and had children of my own, we were all included as an extension of her family. She always found time for me in the midst of her very busy life. There were many evenings over the years where she would call me up to invite me over for tea. She would say "Hello, Carrie dear, would you like to come over for some tea?" We could drink LOTS of tea, usually "Constant Comment" (our favorite). Sometimes I would bring some dessert to share or she would pull out something yummy from the freezer. We could usually find lots of things to talk about.  Since we both worked in the medical field we could also "talk shop" and discuss current happenings on the job.  

 Auntie always had a smile on her face and was quick to give a hug.  My kids loved coming to her house to play or snuggling up next to her at church. I will forever treasure the many hours I spent with her at the close of her life, just sitting by her and holding her hand. 

 Auntie, I love you so much and miss hearing your voice.  What a wonderful gathering it will be when we meet again in Heaven!

Another memory of Gloria as a newlywed has just made me smile! I was a guest visiting her and her husband, Ric, at their home in Everett within the first couple of years of their marriage. I remember sitting at their table during breakfast and Gloria telling me how, in order to economize on coffee, they would save the used grounds and brew them a second time.  I was aghast, already showing signs of becoming a California  coffee snob  in my 20s!  But the tables had completely turned some 40 years later when they were visiting me late in October last year and Gloria was sharing some pointers about espresso and how to brew it in my barely used old espresso  machine.  So it turns out that the Seattle coffee scene had worked it’s transformative magic on my dear friends over the years and showed me just who was now the more informed coffee snob!  Ha ha! Such little things can make for such good  memories. I miss you, Glor! We’ll make more fun memories someday in heaven! 😘

  My first memories of Gloria are from being in school band and history classes together.  As I reflect on those days, over 50 years ago, I am reminded of what a disciplined student Gloria was and how she strived to do her very best at everything she did.  I sat behind Gloria in History class.  She was so patient helping me with our history lessons,  even as I told her I didn’t really like  history!   
  Thankfully, a few years ago our paths crossed  again in our church parking lot.  There was a knock at my car window.  It was Gloria  and what a wonderful surprise it was!  Gloria and I, with our spouses, decided to meet at Panera for coffee which became a Sunday morning tradition.   A wonderful friendship blossomed because of Gloria’s loving outreach to us.  The four of us spent hours talking about the weeks events and our grandkids, sharing our prayer needs and laughing at our spouses who loved to constantly tease each other!  Gloria joyfully shared pictures of her kids and grandkids and I always knew she was praying for me and my family.  She was a great encouragement and inspiration to me.  Gloria also made sure we got together to  celebrate birthdays and anniversaries many times at Olive Garden.  
  I miss Gloria so much but I am thankful to God for bringing Gloria into my life!  Love,  Becky BFF

Gloria was my cousin.  She manned our guest book at our wedding on June 24, 1972 at Temple Baptist Church. Gloria was working at Everett General Hospital ( Colby Campus) when my father passed away. We were really touched that she left her lab and came up to console us and sit with us during this difficult time. Gloria was always loving and kind. She is very much missed.

Gloria's faithfulness is what made the greatest impression during our 40 year friendship. No matter how busy we both were, Gloria made the effort to stay in touch through phone calls, cards, and planning times to be together. She consistently relied upon Jesus. Gloria will continue to be a treasured gift from God until we meet again.

I have precious memories of checking the schedule at work in the morning to see if Gloria was working.  We would meet in the cancer center parking garage and wait for each other. We loved walking in together with Cyndy and sharing our previous evening stories....I loved to hear Gloria's plans for breakfast for dinner....was it Natalie's or Brian's turn to choose???  I love the stories of sleepovers with all of the grandchildren and the fun game nights.  I was amazed how Gloria told the story of Ric watching the kids with the flu----what a hero he was.  Gloria shared her favorite toys with my grandchildren--- we have the ball air pop up toy, and the stroller for baby dolls.  We also met after work and walked back to our cars, taking the stairs in the cancer center which was quite the workout, sharing how our day went and sharing our evening plans....When I hear someone say "we should do something"  It was always Gloria's way of saying ---we are going to do this together. I loved to tease her about this...and asked her if she had a bird in her pocket...I miss Gloria's beautiful smile and her total love  and support for her family , friends,  and the Lord.  She was such a beautiful friend and we shall all be together one day soon....

Gloria was my closest sibling in age.  Since  I am the youngest, Gloria was my play partner.  I think she treated me like I was  her younger sister in that she made me play dolls and have tea parties.  However, the boy in me wasn’t suppressed and soon my boy antics took over.  Later in our lives we shared the same car.  When she went to college, I drove her and dropped her off on Sunday night and picked her back up on Friday afternoon.  So, during the week, it was my car, and her car on the weekends.  It actually worked out well.  Gloria was always kind and nice and easy going.  Although she always complained that I never studied for school and got good grades and she had to study hard to get good grades.  

Later, when we were all married we had kids within a month of each other and every Christmas we would put Jeff, Julie and Matt under the tree because they were God’s gifts to us.  We always enjoyed getting together and visiting.  We will miss her smiling face and pleasant demeanor.  Can’t wait to see you in heaven.  Say Hi to Mom and Dad and Alisha for me.  Love you.

Not a specific memory, but Gloria's kindness to a new MLS graduate made me want to work at PRMCE.  Thank you Gloria!

I have many memories of Gloria- from Pioneer Girls, to the Contemporaries to Working together at PEMC.  She and her sisters sang such beautiful trios at church while I squeaked away on my violin with my brother.  
Gloria was a woman who stayed true to her convictions... We didn’t always agree but she was so solid that I knew where her priorities were.  I think my favorite memory of Gloria is of  her supporting her co-workers after a difficult union issue and rallying everyone to stand up to some serious issues of a health care corporate that had turned against their employees.  She was a woman of great character.  

So , so sorry to hear of Gloria’s Passing. My favorite memory of Gloria was a double date we were on with Bill Bielser and Gloria marched up. We were on a sand dune near La Conner WA and plinking (shooting) a hand gun. All of us missed the target (cans) and Gloria stepped up shot twice hitting the cans each time. Bill and I looked at each other and said OK that’s enough of that.  You see Bill and I shot on a rifle team and were pretty good.  We could not hit those cans at that distance.  I don’t think Bill ever asked Gloria out again.  Can’t believe she is gone. Won’t it be fun to find these people in heaven and just remember the small snippets of good times we shared. 

Growing up, I never had a sister So, it was such a pleasure to have Gloria for a sister-in-law, and she always treated me as a real brother. She was always kind and hospitable and showed her love by her actions. The memories that stand out the most took place in recent years. We thoroughly enjoyed our times together as we toured Charleston, Yorktown and Williamsburg. The quality time we spent with Ric and Gloria is very precious. We had hoped to make more historical trips filled with laughter and good camaraderie. She will be greatly missed.

Gloria was a wonderful, dear sister and friend. Her quiet, loving nature radiated to those around her and instilled calm and peace where it was needed. She was generous in every way and always strove to lift up and encourage those she interacted with. She was a hard worker, too, pitching in where she saw need, quietly helping finish the job. Never demanding, never judging, always forgiving. She prayed without ceasing for her family and friends. 
Most recent memories seem to be most precious. Camping at Ocean Shores, pizza and Mexican dinners out, sitting and talking out in the late afternoon sun, quiet moments together. Glor and Ric opened their home to Kenn and me for 10 months in 2018 when we moved back west and waited for our house to be finished. We all worked together and played together with never a cross word between us. 
Gloria was gentle, but she was also strong. Her life was a witness to God’s love and grace, which she shared with those around her. We were so blessed to have her as a sister and friend, and we miss her deeply. She took a bit of each of us with her, and left a lot of herself with us when she left. In my mind I can still hear her friendly greeting to me as we met and her warm farewell as we parted. I will hear those words again from her when we meet again in Heaven.

I have many fond memories of Aunt Gloria. Even though I didn't see her very often, I always enjoyed the time she spent at our house. She had a good sense of humor and was fun to visit with. We'd often sit on the porch and Aunt Gloria would tell me about books she'd read, told about trips they took and talked about life in general. Sometimes, we would just sit and drink a cup of tea. When I was younger, she would always send me cards with sweet messages. She always took time to talk to me on the phone when she would call Mom. I will miss her very much.

When Julie, Gloria's first baby was born, she was very tiny and had difficulty nursing. Mom was sure she wouldn't make it, so she got the idea that I should take my one month old son, Jeffrey, over to Gloria's. She wanted us to try nursing each other's baby. We did just that and Julie finally got the idea. That is a precious memory I have of sharing our babies. Several years later, Gloria would come over to my house with Julie and I would perm Julie's and Carrie's bangs. We also often celebrated the kids' birthdays together. 

Gloria, Lorraine and I would often find something we said so funny that we would end up crying before we could quit laughing. One particularly embarrassing time when this happened was when we were a t a funeral. Gloria announced that she was NOT going to cry at this funeral. Pulling out a huge pile of Kleenexes I said, "Well, I'll be crying!" That set us off laughing so hard that we shook the bench. The harder we tried to stop, the harder we laughed. We kept hoping that the people behind us would think that we were just crying. 

In recent years, we were able to enjoy taking a few vacations together. I wish we could have spent our retirement years enjoying Gloria's company. But we know that she is having the best vacation of all in heaven with Jesus and our parents. I will really miss all the phone call visits we had. We prayed for each other and our families. She was a faithful prayer partner. Gloria, you are always in my heart and I shall cherish all my memories of you till we see each other face to face again in heaven. Love you forever!

Gloria was the quiet one in our family. Often Mom would find her in the closet quietly playing with her dolls while Lorraine and I were at school. I remember her sitting at my side listening intently to me read her stories about Dick and Jane from the school readers.
Gloria was always compliant and obedient. All it took was a look from Mom or Dad and she would cry and stop doing whatever she was doing. I don't remember ever really fighting with her as she was so easy going. As teenagers we three sisters often sat around talking and sharing our thoughts about boys and other concerns. 
Gloria, Lorraine and I sang in a trio at church. We would often sing a cappella as we were doing the dishes. If we didn't get our notes right, we would head to the piano and work on our parts. Dishes often took a long time to get done, but Mom never said a word of reproof. I'll never forget singing in church one time when none of us could remember what page our song was on. All three of us kept turning the pages while Leuvina kept planing the introduction over an over. Finally she told us the page number but by then we were shaking so hard we could hardly sing. We knew better than to look at Mom while we were singing at any time as she was always crying.
It's hard to separate my memories of Gloria as we three sisters did most things together. We spent hours making homemade gifts for our parents, went strawberry picking, did Saturday chores, put on programs for our parents and the neighbors and many other things together. We were even in each other's weddings. Gloria and Al played their trumpets with Lorraine accompanying them on the piano at my wedding. We have been involved in each other's lives to a much greater degree than just siblings.

Gloria and I were roommates at  Seattle Pacific College during our senior year, 1974.  I had transferred to  SPC from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA, the prior year, mid season, and first met my future wonderful roommate, Gloria. We hit it off so well that we decided to room together our final year, and we shared so many fun times and memories together and with some of our mutual friends that we had gotten to know there. 

I was a Home Ec major and Gloria was studying to be a medical technician. She got to be on my guest list for some of the meals I prepared as part of my course work, And let’s hope she enjoyed what I made! But one of my favorite memories was when she had to do an assignment on checking glucose levels over a period of several hours.  I, of course,  volunteered to be her subject.  I remember meeting her, toting her her blood drawing equipment, in various restrooms at intervals throughout the day whereupon she would draw my blood to  test my glucose levels. I was  never afraid of needles, and never nervous about her drawing my blood… She did an excellent job!

A funny memory involves a time when I had come up from California to visit her and  Ric at their home in Everett while their children, Julie and Bryan, were  young.  Sharon Raymond (now Curd)  a mutual friend of Gloria and mine,  had been invited over for a visit for a fun girls’ day.  A conversation about making pie and in particular, pie dough,  came up and how we measured the shortening.  Gloria said, “I use the water displacement method.”  Sharon (who had also been a home economics major) and I just looked at each other and burst into laughter! This is the difference between someone with a scientific mind being precise and  former home ec  majors  who just throw things together! 

I will really miss my precious friend and sister in Christ. We could’ve  gotten together more often now that we were both retired...Instead, I’ll look forward to seeing her in our eternal home! ❤️

In the 44 years we were married we were only separated for about 4 weeks, and each time I couldn’t bear waiting until we were together again. It was such a joy to watch how she handled all the demands of life. In all those 44 years we only had one intensive fight. Gloria lived God’s commands to not lay down her head until peace was made. Because of her commitment in life and my never-ending love for her we never had that strong of a disagreement again. I give her all the credit. That speaks highly of her committed love for others. Both of us completed each other to make us whole. She was my inspiration and strength and I was her protector and enabler of things she couldn’t think of doing herself. We had become one in spirit and soul. We could complete each other’s sentences, and we knew each other’s thoughts. When she left to be with Jesus, I can truthfully say that my better half has left. For that which everyone knew me as was what she alone made me. Without her I am only half a man, but I will strive to continually be the person she desired me to be. May I honor her in everything I do and may my thoughts and memories of her continue to guide my steps in life. God could not have made a more perfect person or a more perfect match for me. I will miss my beloved Gloria and may Jesus rejoice in receiving her sweet spirit.



My mom was an amazing grandma and mom. It is hard to express how much I will miss my mom, and the empty hole that can't be filled. She made the room feel happy and warm. She wanted everyone to feel welcome, which she did so easily with her smile and laughter. She had a great sense of humor and sometimes laughed so hard she cried. She would make up words and mix up expressions into something new and funny, not meaning to, which made it even funnier. She always wanted to spend time with her grandkids doing sleepovers, helping them with homework, teaching them about God, and playing many game with them, which brought them so much joy. She was always willing to go the extra mile for people even if she was tired and busy herself working full time. She helped me out all the time. Knowing my life was so busy she always tried to make it easier for me. She watched the boys for me and always helped out anywhere she saw a need, which was everywhere at my house.  She prayed nonstop for my family and my brother’s family, and always worried about us. She worried about us even when she was so sick herself. Her love for God was so visible throughout her life. I hope I can show my family the same devotion and love that she has shown me.

Gloria and I met in organic chemistry class in 1972 at Seattle Pacific College.  We got to know each other better over our chemistry labs that year, plus another 2 quarters the next year in biochemistry and living near each other in the dorm.  We shared our career choice (to be medical technologists) and our faith, and became good friends.  She was one year ahead of me, and when it was time for me to look for a job, she gave my name to the pathologist in her lab and then we worked together for 10 years in the lab at GHE, where our friendship continued to grow.  For the past 20 years or more, I have spent one whole special day a year with Gloria, usually around her birthday, arriving at her house at 11 AM, sharing lunch and then dinner with Ric also, finally tearing myself away around 8 PM.  There was always SO much to talk about and catch up on, since we knew each others lives in great detail.  I already miss Gloria so much.  Such a sweet person and I'm so happy that we knew each other here and will meet again heaven.
