Gloria Mae Ahern

Gloria M. Ahern born November 8, 1934 in Berthold, ND to Terrance Ahern and Martha (Tegmeier) Ahern passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014 after fighting a courageous battle with an extended illness. She has now reunited with her son, Lawrence Todd Oxentenko; sister, Rose Allshouse and parents, Terrance and Martha. Our Mom Gloria was a talented seamstress and cook. She could always wow the crowds at the Snack Shacks during 4-H play days with her potato salads, cole slaws and elephant ears. She could take a paper sack and make a pattern out if it, sewing beautiful dresses for us and even fitting cloth diapers for her grandsons. She also enjoyed and had a gift for ceramics. We would like to extend a special thank you to our aunts and uncles for the enduring love and support that has been given to us during this difficult time. This support has been a treasure and for this we are extremely grateful. The entire family would also like to give a special heartfelt thank you to Sandy and Dave Abdilkareem and their family at Sandy’s Adult Home in Marysville, WA for the wonderful care and kindness they provided mom during her time there. Our Mom will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Gloria is survived by her three daughters, Sandy Oxentenko of Stanwood, WA, Rita Almli (Bill) of Arlington, WA and Lori O’Brien (Tim) of Lake Stevens, WA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Josh Fisher (Nikki), Jeremy Fisher (Justina), Jason Berg (Jenna), Lauren Lehn (Kyle), Katelyn Shockley, Anthony O’Brien and Danielle O’Brien and by her great grandchildren, Xavier Lehn and soon to be Kolby Fisher. Gloria also leaves behind her siblings, Delores Colton, James Ahern (Elsie), Louise Griffith, Jerry Ahern (Diana), Lori Johnson (Dick), Ted Ahern (Betty) and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. A visitation and funeral service will be held for Gloria on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway in Everett, WA with a viewing to begin at 1:00pm, with services and reception to follow, beginning at 2:00pm.
