John was born on February 5, 1946, in Bremerton, WA to John H. Meeker and Betty L. Meeker. They moved to Everett, WA in 1948.
John was a graduate of Everett High, class of 1964. He graduated from UW in 1968 with a BA in Science and 1976 with a Med at UW.
John was a Science teacher at Cascade High in 1968-69. He then started teaching at Lake Stevens Middle School from 1969-91, then North Lake Middle School from 1991 until retiring in 1998. In 2001 the Lake Stevens School District hired him for a temporary Computer support tech job that ended up lasting until 2017. John was a past president of the LSEA Teachers Union.
John loved teaching and passing on his knowledge to all. He liked working with computers and collecting movies.
John was preceded in death by his parents, a stillborn brother and nephew Christopher Newton.
John is survived by his sister Elaine (Rich) Carlson, brother Russel (Barb) Meeker (Rhiannon and Brody), and Aunt Kay Young and numerous cousins.
