

Leo Arvi Syria Jr. peacefully passed away at home, with his loving family by his side, on July 3rd, 2025, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Leo was born and raised in Kirkland, Washington by his loving parents Leo and Florence Syria. Leo enjoyed growing up with his older siblings, sister Jean and brother Raymond. Leo was very proud of his pure Finnish heritage and loved living on Finn Hill. He enjoyed playing baseball at a young age and was recognized for his athletic talent.
Leo attended Kirkland Junior High, where he met the love of his life, Linda. Although they met in 9th grade, they did not date until the 11th grade, when Leo finally gathered the courage to ask if he could drive her home. From that point on, they were inseparable and began a life-long love story. Leo and Linda married on June 17, 1972 in Kirkland, Washington.
Leo and Linda started their family with their son, Jason and later welcomed their daughter, Jennifer. They spent many weekends camping together and spending time outdoors, where his passion for nature and the outdoors and exploring were passed on to his children. Leo was an avid 4-wheeler and loved going on jeep and motorcycle adventures with his family.
Leo excelled as a truck driver, where he worked for 45 years and was well known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and unbelievable sense of direction. Leo was often referred to as the human atlas.
During retirement, Leo enjoyed gardening, antiquing, and spending time outdoors. As a proud and devoted grandfather, Leo cherished the time with his four amazing grandchildren, Noah, Dillon, Ava, and Brayden, who looked up to and loved time with their Papa. Leo rarely missed any of his grandchildren's sporting events or activities.
Leo and Linda shared 53 wonderful years of marriage together and he adored Linda until the day he passed on. Leo is greatly missed and will be remembered for his funny sense of humor, being devoted and selfless, with an unwavering love for his family.
