Lilla Beth Ames, age 88, of Lynnwood, Washington passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023.
Lilla Beth Ames was born October 31, 1934 in Longview WA. The youngest of three children, she graduated from R. A. Long High School in 1952 in Longview, WA. Married to Warren Ames in 1962 and moving to Mukilteo in 1963, they enjoyed 34 happy years together until his passing in 1996. Beth was a loving mother to two daughters and a doting grandmother to two granddaughters.
She worked for Lake Stickney Elementary for 20 years as a paraeducator, a job she loved until she retired. Over the years, she volunteered for many organizations including Cystic Fibrosis, The Seattle Symphony, The Pacific Northwest Ballet, and Campfire Girls. She enjoyed travelling, book club, going to plays, and working out at the YMCA, but most of all she loved being surrounded by her many friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Sherrod and Bernice Hartzog of Longview, WA; her husband, Warren Ames of Mukilteo; her two brothers, Sherrod Hartzog, Jr., and Howard Hartzog of Longview, WA. She is survived by her daughter, Lynne Barsness and son-in-law, Jeff Barsness of Mt. Vernon, WA and her daughter, Barbara Barnett and son-in-law, John Barnett of Colorado Springs, CO, and granddaughters, Jenna and Christina Barsness of Seattle, WA.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Fabians Lakeside Adult Family Home for all the loving care they provided over the last three years, also to Alpha Home Health and Hospice for the comfort and dignity they provided during her last six months.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Mukilteo YMCA or The Mukilteo Library.
