Lillian Marie Strange was born on May 31 1948 to Raymond and Ella (Sharratt) Casavant in Bottineau North Dakota. She passed away on January 2 2022 at the age of 73.
Lillian was one of seven siblings, survived by Christina Goldberg and Annabell Roberts. She helped work on the family farm in North Dakota before and after school. This is where her love for hunting, fishing and gardening began. She was also story teller and one of her favorite stories she told was how, as a child, when it snowed, she would slide from the top of the barn to the ground, rarely getting caught.
In 1959, Lillian moved with her family to Port Townsend, Washington. A few years later, in December 1967, she married the love of her life, Frank J Strange. They raised two children, Joel Strange and Marie Strange. During their 21 years of marriage, they enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips with family. They traveled to 45 of the 50 states. Together they enjoyed the simple things in life.
After Frank’s passing in December of 1988, Lillian became a nurse, retiring from nursing in 2013. After retirement, she tried her hand at culinary school but due to eyesight problems she was unable to finish. She spent the rest of her life as she always had, on her own terms and in her own way. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone and never expected anything in return. Toward the end of her life, she was asked what she was most proud of. Her answer was her two granddaughters, Jaycie Horsman and Ella Strange. Through them her legacy will carry on.
Please join us in remembering her by doing acts of kindness for others and living your best life on your own terms, unapologetically.
