

Marie A. (Groen) Phelps There was a big celebration in Heaven on Friday, November 3, 2017, as Marie Phelps joined her loved ones who had gone before her. Her family stood with her and surrounded her with love as she took the step from this life to the next. She was just two months shy of her 100th birthday. Marie was born to Jack and Grace Groen on January 6, 1918, in North Bend, Washington. She was one of seven children. Her father passed away at a young age and her mother remarried and had five additional children. They lived in Lowell, WA, on a small farm for many years. Her family made many memories spending time on the beaches of Dungeness, near Sequim, WA. Marie married Arlie Phelps on October 29, 1938, and together they raised four children, Ron (Nancy), Dixie (deceased in 2014), Shamra (Carl) and Gary (deceased in 2013). She and Arlie were married 72 years until his death in 2010. Marie was known for her ability as a seamstress and made many flannel nighties, wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses for her grandchildren. She and Arlie loved to travel and she cherished the time spent and mischief made with her sister-in-law and best friend, Lyda. She was a realtor for many years and was proud to assist others finding quality homes. Until her death, there were six generations in her family. She had the utmost joy to have many loving grand-children, great grand-children, great great grandchildren and great great great-grandchildren. She was a women filled with grace and elegance and she loved unconditionally and selflessly. She was a beautiful part of this world and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be Friday, November 17, 2017, from 1-3 p.m., followed by a reception from 3 -4 p.m. and a Funeral Service at 4:00 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway Everett, WA 98023.
