Michael John Sheehan, known to all as Mike, was the first of five boys born to George (Tony) and Sylvia Sheehan, born December First, 1948 in Seattle, Washington. He died at the age of 66 in Everett, Washington.
He attended St. Catherine School, one block from home, through the 8th grade, then Blanchet High School where he graduated in 1967. One year in grade school, he won the Seattle Times-sponsored "Old Ossy" Kick Pass and Punt football contest. When he won it again the following year, there was an article in the Times to mark the event. There was mention of a possible dynasty at work, since he had four brothers at home. Sadly, none of his siblings could find a football, let alone fling one with any accuracy. He was a pretty good pitcher in the St. Catherine's CYO team, but the records were lost in some sort of mimeograph mishap at school, and lasting glory was denied him. The role of first-born child is not an an easy burden. You are assigned by Fate to be a teacher. First, you have to teach young parents how to deal with Croup, Chicken Pox, Mumps, Measles, earaches, teething, fevers and so on so that they know what to do when your siblings arrive... siblings who are born after vaccines are invented so that they don't properly appreciate all your hard work.
In spite of these onerous duties, Mike remained true his own God-given nature. Treasured and loved by his nurturing Mom and Dad, he grew into a loving, gentle, loyal, solid son, brother, husband and father. In short, a Good Man.
He served our country during the course of three years in the U.S. Army, and retired from Boeing after worked for 37 years in service there.
He was from his first day to his last a loving son, brother, husband and father.
He was a Cub Scout, a Crossing Guard, an Altar Boy, a Boy Scout, a student and a Soldier. He loved his family and was a devoted husband and father to his son. He did all that was asked of him, and endured more than he deserved, and did it in the quiet, noble way that was his nature
