Ron loved to travel and camp in his travel trailer. He and wife Betty were able to see many places on this earth and enjoy their life together while overseas or at a campsite next to a river.
Ron was a lineman by trade. Spending many days and evenings suspended high in the air running new or repairing electrical lines for the communities he was serving. He was subsequently severely injured in 1977 while on the job and lost much of the use of both of his hands. While this may have been a stopping point for most of us, for Ron it was a challenge that he took head on. He returned to work a few years later. He never let his injury stop him or slow him down.
Anyone who knew Ron loved him. He was a kind man who genuinely cared about others.
Ron spent his last years with the same dignity, courage, kindness and sense of humor that he was known for his entire life.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Elizabeth (Betty) Hodges. Parents Harold and Ruth Hodges, brothers Wayne and Willie Hodges, daughter Carmella Hajek and grandson Paul Demarais.
He leaves behind daughters, Rhonda (George) Sanders, Dalrene (Gary) Smith, Dona (Gene) McClincey. Son’s Shane Patterson and Kraig (Tami) Patterson. Brother LeRoy Hodges and sister Midge Hippen as well and as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the Staff of Josephine Caring Community Memory Care unit for their support, friendship and care of Ron over these last few years.
A private family service will be held at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Vincent De Paul.
