Ronald Vincent Schumacher passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 27, 1941, in Buffalo, NY, Ron lived a life defined by his generosity and fun-loving spirit. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linda (Hilliard) Schumacher; his children, Suzanne Schumacher and David Schumacher; his sister, Delores Schumacher; and his grandchildren, Gavin Patrick, Griffin Patrick, JD Schumacher, and Skylar Schumacher.
Ron attended the University of Buffalo where he graduated in 1968, achieving his master’s degree in mechanical engineering. Ron worked at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, New York and retired in 2001. For 25 years, he also taught evening engineering classes at RIT. After retirement, he taught HVAC and engineering courses first for Finger Lakes BOCES, and then for Genesee Community College. Ron had a passion for teaching and helping his students better themselves through education. He was active in the advisory programs at the college, assisting students with their degree programs and careers. In 2021, Ron retired from teaching and moved west to Everett, Washington to be closer to family.
When he wasn’t working, Ron enjoyed salmon fishing and vacationing around the Pacific Northwest. He was known for his sweet tooth – especially anything chocolate. As his grandchildren always said, “Poppy Shoe sure loves his sugar”. Ron was also an avid hockey fan and enjoyed being a season ticket holder for both the Seattle Kraken and Everett Silvertips hockey teams.
Ron will be remembered as a dedicated husband, loving father, and friend to many. He will be missed.
