Bothell resident, Thang Quoc Ta, 79, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2017, at Bothell Health Care Skilled Nursing Home.
A service for family and friends will be held at Dignity Memorial 4504 Broadway St., Everett, WA. 8:00 a.m – 11:45 a.m, following lunch at V Star Buffett 620 SE Everett Mall Way #888 Everett, WA. on February 27, 2017.
Mr. Thang Ta was born on November 1, 1937 in Saigon, Vietnam to Mr. Che Tang Chanh and Mrs. Vong A Binh.
At a very early age, Thang had a classic gentlemen style that endured the changing times.
Thang was a prisoner of war as result of serving in the South Vietnam Army working closely with the United States during the Vietnam War. The harsh treatment he received in captivity only strengthened his character and will to live. Shortly after his release, he settled back in Vung Tau, Vietnam with his wife Chac A. Kiu and raised a family of 6 children. The family lost their beloved youngest son to pneumonia at an early age.
In 1979, Thang made a brave decision to uproot his entire family and immigrated to the United States for a better future. Upon settling in North Everett, he quickly found work at Denny’s Restaurant in Everett. In later years, he worked at Canyons Restaurant in Bothell. He and his wife welcomed another child shortly upon arriving in the US – an American born boy. He would become the 7th child in the family.
Thang was very mechanically inclined. At home, he was the beloved fix-it-guy when it came to repairing broken household appliances - even when it was one of his kids who accidentally broke it.
Thang spent more than 35 years in Washington. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Chac A. Kiu; and his 6 children: Seng Ta, Sim Wang, Cam Ta, Kin Chang, Sam Ta and BJ Ta.
Condolences may be sent to the family at 4504 Broadway St., Everett, WA 98203.
