After a courageous battle with cancer, Thea Nget, 47, passed away February 29, 2012, with his family by his side in Seattle, WA. He was born April 3, 1964, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Thea survived the holocaust of Khmer Rouge from 1975 to 1979 with his mother, three brothers and two sisters. He fled to the refugee camp, in Thailand, in 1979 to seek a new life. This was the place where he found his great talent as an artist. He painted pictures and sold them to foreigners to help provide additional funds to support his family. In 1981, he was fortunate to be selected to come to the United States by the Ten State sponsors.
Thea, a single father, is survived by his two daughters: Lyna and Eileen Nget; his loving mother, Him Chou; sisters: Marie and Veronica; brothers: Sam and Seila, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to have known him. Thea loves being with his family, having fun with friends, camping, fishing, and playing ping pong.
Thea touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his sense of humor all the way to the end. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, March 10th, 2012, at 10:00am at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA 98023. The viewing is March 4th to March 9th, from 4-7pm.
The family requests all donations to be sent to the wonderful people who gave such great care for Thea in his time of need at Swedish Hospital.
